The &quot;open-sided&quot; boards are by far the most common type, but it&#039;s mostly personal preference.  The face of the board is generally 2&#039; wide x 4&#039; long, with the rear end raised 12&quot;.  The boards are spaced 27&#039; apart from front to front.
