how far apart do cornhole boards have to be spaced?

i just got a cornhole set and i would like to know the spacings between the boards to play an accurate game over labor day.please tell me if you are measuring from the back of the board or the front.
thanks!

Cornhole platforms should be placed on a flat surface, with the front edges 27 feet apart.
