    The consistency of pepper, especially cayenne pepper and dishes with curry, makes that happen. Certain spices react that way to certain people, not everyone.

    it is a mucous membrane. when you eat it burns you mouth, that is why some people get heart burn. there is a lot of acid in it. That is also the same reason your eyes burn if you cut jalapenos and then scratch you eyes.
